About the event
We meet at the finish for day 3 to leave some cars here and then drive, car sharing, to the start at Ogwen.
The Carneddau is the biggest continuous upland in Britain outside of Scotland. Â Despite that, a linear traverse of the principal peaks is doable in a single long day in high summer. Â Of course, in winter it's a very different proposition, since shorter daylight hours and tough conditions underfoot - which will often include snow and ice - means you work hard for every mile. Â Good job we're doing it in April then!
Like a mini-Cairngorms, this part of northern Snowdonia can be an exposed and fearsome place to be. Â On a clear day, however, you'll feel like you're on some mountain in the Lord of the Rings.
So, if you're looking for a memorable Easter Adventure that will linger long in the memory you can hardly do better than this 3-day epic.
You'll need - tent, food, sturdy walking boots, stove, water (ideally 2 litres and purification tablets as well), food, rucksack, suitable clothing, including waterproofs, hat and gloves. Â By all means bring your own map (OS Explorer 17 or Harvey Mountain Map Snowdonia North)Â
