About the event
The mighty peaks of teh Berwtnion range lie outside of the Snowdonia National Park, robing them of much-deserved recognition but presenting the discerning hillwalker with a big mountain walk far from the madding crowds. Â Cadair Berwyn crwons the massif, with a spike adorned summit.
Interestingly, this high point (830m) wasn't always recognised as the summit with enarby Moel Sych (also on the walk) being awarded the high point by a measly 1ft on early OS maps. Â Later metric versions assigned 827m to both peaks but this was the north summit of Cadair Berwyn, with the south top still missing out. Â Finally, recent surveys revealed the truth and the south top was proclaimed king 3m higher than its northern twin and Moel Sych.
On this hike we combine all three peaks, taking in the wonderful horseshoe of Cwm Nant y Llyn and visiting the breathtaking Pistyll Rhaeadr, which at over 70m in height is one of the tallest waterfalls in Wales.
