About the event

Do you know who described the Derwent Valley between Matlock and Matlock Bath as "Little Switzerland"?  Lord Byron.

And so came about an "Alpine Trail" linking the two towns via Pic Tor and High Tor.  This walk heads out that way, then returns on the other wall of the valley via the Heights of Abraham, how to England's only Alpine-style cable car.  For the daring, and only i fthe weather permits, there's a detour via Giddy Edge on High Tor, across the rock face.
